Matific Maths Competition

Mrs Fisher has registered our school to participate in the Matific Maths Competition from August 31 to September 13. If we could all get on board as the more points we gain the higher the chances of winning some great prizes and at the same time exciting students about maths.

There are major prizes to be won both for school and classroom teachers.

Your child will get their login tomorrow to practice or alternatively I can dojo the password through to you.

Welcome Back To Term 3

Welcome Back To Term 3

Inquiry/Reading

Our inquiry concept for this term is  'STRUCTURES' we already have lots of wondering questions that the learners of Room 16 have come up with.  Some of these include:

What are the different structures in the human body/heart/brain?
What are the structures of plants?
How do brains send messages?
Why are buildings so tall in cities?

Keep encouraging your child to think of wondering ideas around 'structures' as they talk about their learning with you at home.

This will also integrate in with our reading as we started off the week with a visit to the Life Education Van with Harold.  This focus has been around 'Brainy Bunch'

Term 2, Week 10

Week 10!
Inquiry/Reading

This week we will also be finishing our term by presenting our individual inquiries to the rest of the Year 6 team that connect to our wondering questions around our concept 'CHANGE'.

This integrates in with our reading as we will be continuing with our inquiry research, and finishing off scientific articles about the ozone layer, the future of electrical cars and severe weather.

Thursday 6 July will also include a Matariki Celebration

It was great to be able to celebrate your child's strengths, the progress they have made and to work collaboratively with you to develop their next steps. If you couldn't make it last week to the P.E.P's don't hesitate to email or dojo me to arrange a time for early Term 3.
